HollywoodNews.com: Whoever gets hired to fill Steve Carell’s shoes on NBC’s “The Office” in fall 2011 has big feet. Word has it from EW and Collider that producers are reaching out to burgeoning comedy icons Danny McBride and Rhys Darby. Both respectively hail from HBO comedies “Eastbound & Down” and “Flight of the Conchords.”
Darby has experience being a boss of sorts on “Conchords” as the manager of the comedy crooners. There is a chance that neither will be the big gun around the office.
Collider says:
Paul Lieberstein (the showrunner and actor who plays Toby Flenderson) confirms that they’re looking at introducing a new salesman at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, but not to necessarily replace Michael Scott. This implies that perhaps someone we already know will actually be promoted to make room for a new salesman.
McBride has made his mark in such films as “Tropic Thunder,” “Up in the Air” and “Pineapple Express.” He continues to be highly coveted in feature comedies. With the cancellation of “Conchords” recently, Darby has an open schedule.
